Top 10 of 2012: Best Debuts

Top 10 of 2012: Best Book Covers

BEST BOOK COVERS

Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)The Raven Boys (Raven Cycle, #1)Incarnate (Newsoul, #1)
Of Poseidon (Of Poseidon, #1)Alice in Zombieland (The White Rabbit Chronicles, #1)The Lost Prince (The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten, #1)What's Left of Me (The Hybrid Chronicles, #1)UnrestEverneathThe Selection (The Selection, #1)

They all look so pretty. Look at them, calling me, enchanting me. I am not ashamed to say that I judge most books by their covers. If publishers really want me to read their books, then they would at least make an attempt to get me interested and excited for it. I haven't read most of the books on here (only the first row) but they look awesome enough that I would really want to. (I'm still having trouble keeping my hands off of The Lost Prince. I hated the first two books of Iron Fey series but The Lost Prince looks fantastic enough that I'm willing to finish off Iron Fey just so I can read it. But I won't. I won't. I won't.)

Best Book of 2012
The Fault in Our Stars
The Fault In Our Stars
Yeah, yeah. I know it's probably on a hundred other readers' list. Not exactly the most original but it is the most amazing book I've read this year. I don't even understand how John came up with this awesomeness.

2012 is almost over and it's been a great year for books. I discovered Goodreads this year and thank goodness for that. Without it, I wouldn't even have heard of half the books I've read and loved.

What's the best book you've read this year?

Review: Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Title: Cinder
Author: Marissa Meyer
Series: Lunar Chronicles (1)
Publisher: Feiwel & Friends
Release Date: 3 January 2012
Date Read: June 2012
Rating: ★★★★★

Cinder is a retelling of the classic tale of Cinderella. The plot of the book mainly follows the story of Cinderella. The evil step-mother and step sisters, the Prince, the ball, the dress, midnight striking, they're all there. But kudos to Marissa Meyer for putting such an incredible twist to the story everyone knows and love.

The book is set in New Beijing, centuries ahead of our time. It is a world filled with magnificent technological developments and unfamiliar, breathtaking environment, yet it is plagued by a deadly disease that threatens the survival of the whole population. Add in the fact that there are Lunars, creatures native to the 'planet' (moon), Lunar.
